Disability Support Pensioners & Carer Payment Recipients under 60
In 2008, the Victorian Government introduced free Sunday travel for Disability Support Pensioners and Carer Payment Recipients under 60.
To access the free Sunday travel entitlement, you need to register for the Sunday Pass. The Sunday Pass will be issued as a paper ticket (Sunday Pass) which will allow you to travel free on eligible services on Sundays.
With myki now operating on all metropolitan train, tram & bus services, there is a concession myki for Disability Support Pensioners and Carer Payment Recipients under 60, which contains the free Sunday travel entitlement.
Getting your free myki
Holders of a DSP/CAR concession myki will automatically be able to access free travel on Sundays within two
consecutive zones (e.g. Zones 1 and 2) in Victoria. From 01 January 2011, this free travel entitlement will also include Saturdays. So if you travel with myki on weekends it will be free.
You
must have money on your concession myki for the Sunday Pass to work
($0.01 or more). If your balance is zero or negative you will be unable
to touch on, and you must top up again before you can access your free
travel entitlement.

If you currently have a Sunday Pass
If you currently hold, or have applied for, a Sunday Pass, you will
receive a concession myki containing your free travel entitlement in the
mail. The mailout of concession myki to over 400,000 registered Sunday
Pass holders will begin in late September and is expected to take
several weeks once materials, including individual cards are collated.
Until you receive your concession myki, please continue to purchase concession paper tickets and use your existing Sunday Pass to access free travel on Sundays.
If you do not hold a Sunday Pass
You can apply for a Sunday Pass here. You will be issued with a Sunday Pass to use until you receive your concession myki in the mail, once myki is fully rolled out across Melbourne’s public transport network.
Proof of concession entitlement
Please note, you must carry a valid Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink when you travel with your concession myki as this is proof of your concession entitlement.
