Full fare
The fare structure won't change with the introduction of myki. When using myki money you will always pay less than the 2 hour and daily short term tickets. For example, a Daily Zone 1 full fare short term ticket costs $6.80, but with myki money you'll only pay $5.88.

Concession
All concession entitlements will stay the same with myki. Eligible concession groups include:
Children
- Children under 4 years: Children under four years travel on public transport free.
- Children 16 years and under: You do not need to carry proof of concession entitlement if you are 16 years or younger and are travelling with a child myki.
Students
- Students 16 years and under: You can travel with a child myki and you do not need to carry proof of concession entitlement.
- Students 17 years and over: You can travel with a concession myki and you must carry a Victorian Public Transport (VPT) Student Concession Card as proof of your concession entitlement.
- Students of all ages travelling with a Student Pass: You can travel with a concession myki and you must carry a Victorian Public Transport (VPT) Student Concession Card. You need to carry both your myki and your VPT Student Concession Card when you travel. Your myki will have your Student Pass loaded on the card.
Seniors
- Victorian Seniors Card Holders: If you receive a senior concession fare now, your entitlements stay the same with a seniors myki. Please carry your Victorian Seniors Card as proof of your concession entitlement when you travel with your seniors myki. Your seniors myki contains the Sunday Pass, which entitles you to free Sunday travel in Victoria within two consecutive zones. A Commonwealth Seniors Health Card does not qualify you for concession travel.
- Seniors from other Australian states or territories: You can buy a concession myki to travel. Please continue to carry your Seniors Card when travelling with myki as this is proof of your concession entitlement. Seniors Card holders from other states and territories are not eligible for a seniors myki.
Disability Support Pensioners and Carer Payment Recipients under 60 (DSP/CAR)
How do I get a myki?
If you have registered for the Sunday Pass, you will be mailed a concession myki once myki is fully rolled out across Melbourne's public transport network. Your concession myki will automatically contain a Sunday Pass, which entitles you to free travel on Sundays within two consecutive zones (e.g. Zones 1 and 2) in Victoria.
If you currently hold a Sunday Pass, please continue to travel using concession paper tickets and your existing Sunday Pass.
If you do not hold a Sunday Pass, you can apply here. You will be issued with a Sunday Pass to use until you receive your concession myki in the mail once myki is fully rolled out across Melbourne's public transport network.
Remember to carry your Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink when you travel with myki as this is proof of your concession entitlement.
Victorian Health Care Card holders and Pensioner Concession Card holders
Please continue to carry your current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. This is proof of your concession entitlement. Only Health Care Cards with a Victorian address are valid. If you are eligible to receive free travel vouchers, the way these vouchers are issued does not change.
Note: The concession applies only to the cardholder and does not extend to any dependants named on the card, even when they are travelling with the cardholder.
Victorian War Widows/War Veterans
Your War Widows/War Veterans Public Transport Concession Card now comes combined with a myki. Please contact the Metlink Central Pass Office on (03) 9619 1159 if you are eligible for this entitlement. . |
