Fares

Whether you are a daily or occasional traveller, myki will suit you. Your myki can hold both myki money (dollar value) and myki pass (consecutive travel days). Choosing the right product for you depends on the way you travel.

  • myki money charges you on a 'pay as you go' basis
  • myki pass is prepaid and offers the best value fare for regular travellers
  • Touch on and touch off as you travel to ensure you automatically pay the lowest fare.
  • Daily caps apply for travel
  • Pay no more than $3.50 a day on weekends and public holidays for Zone 1&2 travel
  • myki automatically applies concession and free travel entitlements as you touch on and touch off, such as Early Bird or seniors free weekend travel.
  • Use the myki fare calculators.

It is an offence to travel on public transport without a valid ticket.

Authorised Officers
Public transport operators employ staff to perform the role of Authorised Officers under the Transport Act 1983 and transport regulations. If you travel on public transport without a valid ticket, or you are detected or observed committing another offence under the Transport Act or regulations, an Authorised Officer may inform you that they intend to report the matter to the Department of Transport and that you may receive an infringement notice in the mail.

Failure or refusal to give your name and address or giving false details to an Authorised Officer is also an offence.

For more information about Authorised Officers, visit the External link Public Transport Victoria website.
