Topping up
Top up your myki before you travel so you can pay for your trip. Top up with either myki money or myki pass.
- There are a number of ways you can top up your myki.
- Top ups made at a myki machine, retail outlet or via the bus driver are instantly credited to your myki card.
- Online or telephone top ups are not instantly credited to your myki.
- Infrequent travellers may prefer to top up just before they travel using a myki machine or at a retail outlet.
You can top up:
You should allow at least 24 hours for top ups made online or by telephone to process.
Online and telephone top ups are only added to your myki card when you touch on at a myki reader or use a myki machine. This is because your myki card needs to interact physically with the system.
Immediate top up is available by using a myki machine, visiting a myki retail outlet or topping up via the bus driver on regional town buses.
Infrequent travellers may prefer to top up just before they travel using a myki machine or at a retail outlet.
Important note
If you do not use your myki within 90 days of topping up online or via the call centre, your top up is temporarily suspended. Any existing value on your myki card is not affected and remains available to use for travel. If your myki card balance is low, you may need to top up at a myki machine or retail outlet to pay for your next trip.
