More myki readers at stations

More myki readers at stations
Metropolitan rail passengers will start to see changes at railway stations as work commences to install more myki readers across the network.

Installing more myki readers will provide passengers with more places to touch on and touch off at the start and end of their trip.

TTA CEO Bernie Carolan said passengers can switch to myki when they feel comfortable, but may decide that now is the right time.

“Passengers worried about additional waiting times when entering these stations could switch to myki to take advantage of quicker boarding times and the other benefits of the smart card system,” Mr Carolan said.

“Touching on a myki takes around one second, which is quicker than the time taken to validate a Metcard."

The TTA currently has plans to install around 150 more myki readers across the train network.
