A number of changes to public transport ticketing services are now taking place as myki is the only way to go on Melbourne's public transport.
People who have unused or partly used Metcards can transfer the value onto a myki as myki money at staffed metropolitan Premium Stations (limits apply - more information available at Premium Stations)
Changes to occur to ticketing services include:
- Metcard sales and validity on the metropolitan train, tram and bus networks have ended
- Metcard validators at train stations are being progressively removed on a station-by-station basis and at some locations more myki readers will be installed in their place.
- Work has commenced to replace all Metcard gates with myki only gates
- A myki 'Starter Pack' is available to purchase from the bus driver for those passengers who do not yet have a myki. A full fare myki 'Starter Pack' costs $10 and includes $4 worth of travel, while concession and seniors 'Starter Packs' cost $5 and include $2 worth of travel.
These changes to ticketing services will be supported by an informative customer education campaign. Keep checking this website regularly for more information.
myki customer service staff will continue to be on the public transport network to assist those passengers who have yet switched to myki.
