Travelling anonymously
Can I travel anonymously on public transport?
Yes – you can choose to purchase a short term ticket or an anonymous myki to travel anonymously.
What is an anonymous myki?
You do not need to register your details to obtain and use an anonymous myki (you only need to provide sufficient details to allow the card to be posted out to you if purchased via the website or call centre – your details will then be removed). You will not be able to view your transaction history online with an anonymous myki
How do I get an anonymous myki?
For most card types, you can currently buy an anonymous myki online, via the call centre (13 6954) or from regional myki retailers. A card fee of $7 for concession or $10 for full fare applies. There are some categories of cardholders for which an anonymous myki is not available. For more information…
Can I register an anonymous myki?
An anonymous myki can be registered at any time. This can be done:
Online
By downloading, completing and lodging a myki Registration Form
By obtaining a myki Registration Form from The Metshop, the Southern Cross discovery centre, Metro Premium Stations or selected VLine stations
By calling 13 myki (13 6954)
Note: A registered myki is no longer anonymous. Once registered, you can not make the myki anonymous.
