For up-to date information about where you can top up, please call 13 6954 (13 myki).

There are some stations that will only have myki machines installed when the station is fully converted to myki. Until installation is complete, please make sure your myki is topped up before you travel or that you have a valid Metcard. You can top up online or on the phone – allowing at least 24 hours for processing – or instantly at other metropolitan train stations.

* The following metropolitan stations do not currently have a myki machine:

Ashburton, Bayswater, Berwick, Fairfield, Frankston, Glen Waverley, Heidelberg, Hurstbridge, Jolimont, Laburnum, Lilydale, Moorabbin, Narre Warren, Pakenham, Ringwood, Ringwood East, Sandringham, South Yarra, Thomastown, Upper Ferntree Gully, Watsonia.

Note: Top up requests made via the website or by phone may take at least 24 hours to be processed. Once processed, your top up will appear on your myki the next time you touch on.

Minimum requirements

Travel in one or two zones

To touch on and to travel in Zone(s) 1 and/or 2, your myki must have:

  • a minimum myki money balance of $0.01; or
  • a myki pass valid for at least the zone in which you board and a myki money balance of at least $0.00.

If you have a valid myki pass and a negative myki money balance, your myki is not valid for travel until you have topped up the myki money balance to at least $0.00.

Travel in three or more zones

Before you travel in three zones or more, your myki must have:

  • a myki pass valid for your entire journey; or
  • a sufficient myki money balance to pay for the entire journey; or
  • a myki pass for part of the journey and a sufficient myki money balance to pay for the rest of the journey.

You may only top up myki money on board V/Line coaches and trains if you did not have a reasonable opportunity to top up before travel. Cash sales only.

If you boarded a V/Line coach or train at a location with facilities for topping up, you are deemed to have had a reasonable opportunity to top up before travelling. For example, if you board a V/Line train at Southern Cross Station or at any other staffed station you must top up before boarding. In these circumstances, you may commit an offence if you do not top up before boarding.
