Card sales

myki machines now selling full fare myki cards

The rollout of card sales at myki machines across the public transport network is now complete.

You can purchase a full fare myki card from a myki machine at all metropolitan train stations (except for Showgrounds station) and selected V/Line stations where myki is operating on local bus services.

  • Geelong Transit System (Lara, Corio, North Shore, North Geelong, Geelong, South Geelong and stations)
  • Ballarat Transit System (Ballarat and Wendouree stations)
  • Bendigo Transit System (Bendigo station)
  • Seymour (Seymour station)
  • Latrobe Valley (Moe and Warragul stations).

myki machines at the following accessible tram stops are also selling full fare cards:

  • Arts Centre/St Kilda Rd
  • Bourke/Russell St
  • Bourke/Spencer St
  • Bourke/Spring St
  • Bourke/William St
  • Commercial Rd/Alfred Hospital

Metcard ticket machine removal

Metropolitan train passengers should take advantage of additional card sales outlets and switch to myki as Metcard ticket machines are permanently turned off.

Work is now underway to progressively turn off all Metcard ticket vending machines across the metropolitan public transport network.

Keep up-to-date with which stations have had their Metcard ticket vending machines turned off with the help of this map (see those marked in red).

Metcard ticket vending machines are scheduled to be permanently turned off at the following stations over the next weeks:

Week commencing 14 May

  • Canterbury, Chatham, Surrey Hills
  • Darling, Gardiner
  • Hawksburn, Toorak
  • Cranbourne
  • Bonbeach, Carrum, Frankston (two of four machines) and Kananook.

Week commencing 21 May

  • Auburn, Camberwell
  • Dandenong, Hallam, Noble Park
  • Aspendale, Chelsea, Edithvale, Mordialloc and Seaford.

Week commencing 28 May

  • Hawthorn
  • Huntingdale, Westall, Springvale
  • Cheltenham, Frankston (two of four machines), Highett, McKinnon, Mentone, Moorabbin, Parkdale and Patterson.

If you use these stations, prepare for the change by ensuring you understand the myki system and by buying a myki in the next weeks.

Card prices have been reduced to $6.00 for a full fare myki and $3.00 for a concession, senior or child myki.

  • metropolitan premium train stations
  • from 7-Eleven outlets and other independent retailers displaying the myki sign
  • from myki machines located at all train stations, some accessible tram stops and bus interchanges (full fare only)
  • from the myki discovery centre at Southern Cross Station
  • from the PTV Hub Swanston Street (corner Swanston and Little Collins streets)

Please note: Disability Support Pensioners, Carer Payment Recipients and Victorian Seniors are entitled to free weekend travel and their first myki free, they should apply via the Free Weekend Travel Application Form.

 

myki retail rollout

The rollout of the myki retail network across Melbourne and major regional centres is now complete.

You can top up your myki at around 800 retail outlets, including all 7-Eleven stores in Melbourne and Geelong, and at a network of independent retailers in regional centres where myki is operating.
